Choir Musical Production of...
The
Joy of Christmas
Sunday, Dec. 6, 11:00am
With genres ranging from a
Broadway-style opener,
to powerful ballads and fun
blues, these energetic arrangements will make it
impossible to hear this Christmas collection without a
smile on your face.
A soulful celebration of classics
with inventive musical twists, the presentation will feature a
contemporary drama which is woven throughout the
musical. Through an old letter found in the shipping box
of an antique nativity set, the faith of one believer is
passed on to his now grown granddaughter and
great-granddaughter.
Though it is unstated, this story
speaks of how we as a culture are now often several
generations removed from faith and the common knowledge
of the Christmas story. However, the light of hope and
peace still shines when shared from one person to
another and one generation to the next. |

When we give to the CBF Offering for
Global Missions, we join hands and reach beyond our
borders to embrace a world in need. We accomplish good
work that we could never do alone. We respond to natural
disasters, we grow gardens to feed the poor, we dig
wells in lands where people are thirsty. We give, we go
– together, as we tap into God’s dream for the
flourishing for all creation. Together, we are embracing the world.
We pool our resources and trust God to
multiply our gifts, both big and small. We will never
know the full impact of our giving – but there are
glimpses. Like the “Stories on Wheels” bus in Phillips
County, Arkansas. Here, in one of the poorest 20
counties in the U.S., this mobile library is creating
change. During the summer this bus travels throughout
Phillips County, reaching children as young as 3 years
old. Volunteers read books and Bible stories aloud, and
each child takes a book home. Children learn about the
world, other people, God and themselves.
In China’s Sichuan province, Elder Zhang
can tell you about these glimpses that remind us why
we’re called to give and go. As the leader of the city
church in Bazhong, China, 71 year-old Elder Zhang
remembers when the gospel was not allowed in China. For
years this land has been prayed for and dreamed of by a
congregation thousands strong and growing everyday. And
one day, despite the poverty of this region, this
hillside will be home to a new building for Bazhong
Church, a thriving congregation that just 20 years ago
was only a handful of believers. Now, there are more
than 20,000 throughout the region, plus 16 registered
churches and even more “meeting points” that will
eventually become official churches. In this small,
isolated region, God has moved and, if you ask Elder
Zhang, shows no sign of stopping.
As we give, we partner with this good
work, years in the making. We come together to give so
we can work with Christians around the world to dream
God’s dream. But this is not a work we can do
alone. Please give generously to the CBF Offering
for Global Missions as we embrace the world.
